Stakeholder Workshop in the Rhineland Region
Another TRANSIENCE stakeholder workshop in the Rhine-Ruhr industrial cluster (DE) took place on August 28, 2024, organized by our consortium partner, Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, and Energy.
The event gathered a core group of experienced stakeholders from the energy sector, industry, NGOs, and trade unions. Using the 3-Horizons Method, participants discussed the current challenges facing the regional industrial system, future aspirations, and strategies for achieving a sustainable, competitive industry. Key topics included competitiveness concerns, investment bottlenecks, and a generational shift in entrepreneurial leadership. Participants also highlighted the importance of the region’s strong industrial clustering in the face of geopolitical uncertainties, emphasizing the need for a better understanding of a regional circular use of resources. The presence of trade union and environmental NGO representatives was especially valued, and participants expressed interest in continuing the dialogue in future workshops.
