Successful TRANSIENCE stakeholder workshop at the Port of Rotterdam
On February 26, 2026, our partners from Utrecht University held the Port of Rotterdam regional stakeholder workshop, at the iconic premises of Word Port Center, in the Netherlands.
The workshop gathered Port Authority representatives and industrial stakeholders engaged in the Port’s petrochemical and refinery sectors, who were asked to discuss and provide their insights on the Port’s overall industrial transformation, focusing on the technological and economic viability as well as the environmental footprint of alternative carbon feedstocks.
Participants had the chance to refine the research objectives and model development lead by TRANSIENCE and dive into the technicalities of materials, processes, as well as value chain implications. Our Paul Scherrer Institute partners presented state-of-the-art Life Cycle Assessment model insights while an advanced techno-economic model for the European petrochemical industry was presented by Wuppertal Institute of Climate, Environment, and Energy colleagues, acquainted by University of Kassel expert modellers, currently involved in the overall Antwerp-Rotterdam-Rhine-Ruhr Area (ARRRA) cluster dynamics.
